The Last Laugh
The Last Laugh invites audiences into a backstage dressing room where Tommy Cooper, Eric Morecambe and Bob Monkhouse cross paths. Through laughter, memories and philosophical reflections, they explore what it means to be funny, fulfil legacy and face mortality. The touring version blends nostalgia and candid emotion with affectionate portrayals of these icons.

Written and directed by Paul Hendy, The Last Laugh is inspired by his earlier short film of the same name. It premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2024, transferred to London’s Noël Coward Theatre in early 2025 starring Bob Golding (Morecambe), Damian Williams (Cooper) and Simon Cartwright (Monkhouse), then embarked on a UK tour during summer 2025. The play runs roughly 1 hour 20 minutes.
