The Flying Bath
Adapted from Julia Donaldson's book, The Flying Bath invites young audiences into a secret world where bath toys come to life once the house is empty. Setting off in their magical flying bath, the toys dash from place to place, helping animals in trouble with splashes of water and plenty of teamwork. From muddy piglets to frightened baboons, every adventure is playful, kind and full of surprises.

The Flying Bath is based on the original picture book by Julia Donaldson, with illustrations by David Roberts. First published in 2014, the book quickly became a favourite for its lively rhymes and inventive idea of bath toys as everyday heroes. This stage version stays close to the spirit of the book, translating its warmth and energy into a visual and musical theatre experience.
The production is adapted and directed by Samantha Lane, with set and puppets designed by Emma Tompkins. The design makes imaginative use of familiar bathroom objects, turning them into characters that feel friendly and expressive. Music by Dominic Sales adds rhythm and momentum to the story, while keeping the sound gentle and accessible for very young audiences.
