The show is adapted from the first novel (and episode) of Caroline Graham’s Inspector Barnaby series, set in a seemingly tranquil village that conceals dark rivalries and buried secrets. On stage, the drama translates into a more intimate, character-driven mystery, with changes in pace to fit theatre conventions.
This stage premiere taps into the long affection for the TV series by emphasising place, community andthe shock of violence in pastoral surroundings.
