An Inspector Calls returns for a major UK and Ireland tour in 2027 and 2028, bringing Stephen Daldry's acclaimed National Theatre production of J B Priestley's classic thriller back to the stage.
Set in 1912, the play follows the wealthy Birling family as they gather for a celebratory dinner. Their evening is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Inspector Goole, who is investigating the death of a young working-class woman.
As the Inspector questions each member of the family, their connections to the young woman's life gradually come to light. What begins as a seemingly straightforward investigation becomes a tense examination of personal responsibility and social inequality.
First staged at the National Theatre in 1992, Stephen Daldry's production transformed the play through its bold visual design and dramatic approach to storytelling. It has since become one of the most celebrated productions of Priestley's work, winning 19 major awards, including four Tony Awards and three Olivier Awards. More than six million people worldwide have seen the production.
