Allegra is a new play by Peter Quilter. This world premiere production marks a significant moment, bringing together Quilter’s writing with the stage presence of Dame Maureen Lipman, who returns to touring theatre in a leading role after many years.
The play follows Allegra, a woman whose boundless joy expresses itself through spontaneous bursts of song, blurring the line between imagination and reality.Set within a small community, the story explores how those closest to Allegra respond to her behaviour. Her brother and carer attempt to maintain order while protecting her sense of happiness.
The show embarks on a UK tour prior to a planned West End run.
